Rutgers vs. Sacred Heart final score: Scarlet Knights blow out Pioneers, 88-62, for 1st win

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights rebounded nicely from their disappointing season-opening loss to St. Peter's by blowing out Sacred Heart, 88-62, on Monday night. The Scarlet Knights had four players in double figures and shot an impressive 54 percent from the field on their to the easy win. Unlike Friday, Mike Rice's club pounced on the lesser opponent early, squashing their hopes of an upset and building a 20-point lead over the first 20 minutes.

Eli Carter led the way off the bench for Rutgers, pouring in 18 points on 7-of-15 from the floor. Carter averaged nearly 14 points per game during his freshman year, and Rice will rely on him this season to provide that kind of microwave scoring off the bench. In the frontcourt, junior Wally Judge overpowered Sacred Heart on his way to a double-double performance. Judge pulled down 10 boards and added 11 points. Starters Dane Miller and Myles Mack also dropped in 14 points each, as the offense was completely in rhythm throughout the game.

With their first win under their belt, Rutgers now hits the road for the first time this season, playing on Friday against Princeton.
