A win in either of their two remaining games will seal a playoff berth for the New York Red Bulls, currently in fourth place.

With 53 points, the Red Bulls are four points up on the sixth-place Columbus Crew, who have 49. The Crew could get a maximum of 55 points with a pair of games remaining against D.C. and Toronto, so a pair of draws for New York would secure a tie at least. However, if New York wins one of their final two games, they'll have 56 points and guarantee themselves a spot in the MLS Cup playoffs.

The Houston Dynamo are currently in the fifth and final spot in the conference with 50 points. New York could move as high as second place, just three points behind the Chicago Fire and only one behind D.C. United.

The next game for New York is against the Eastern Conference leaders, Sporting KC, who still have to win to retain their top spot. After that, the season finale is against the Philadelphia Union.
