With the Miami Marlins securing last place in the NL East standings, questions over whether Jose Reyes regrets leaving the Mets for South Florida arose during the final series of the season. Reyes said he could not have anticipated the disastrous season on the field, but that he's still happy to be playing for Miami. Via Mike Puma of New York Post:

"When I left the Mets, I knew I was going to a better situation," Reyes told The Post before the Mets' 4-3 11-inning loss to the Marlins Tuesday night. "The team we put together on the field was a very good team to compete in our division, but it didn't happen that way. Nobody thought we were going to be behind the New York Mets at this point."

With one game remaining, the Marlins are 69-92, four games back of the Mets in the NL East standings. The excitement of an offseason acquiring expensive assets faded by mid-summer as the team sold off star players yet again.

Mets ownership was dealing with financial strife last offseason, which complicated their ability to bring Reyes back. But he didn't want to speculate about how things could have been different, instead focusing on the future with Miami:

"I'm happy where I'm at," he said. "They treat me good here.

"We still have a lot of good pieces here. We just need to put it together on a consistent basis."

As the season winds down, Reyes leads his struggling team with a .287 average and has hit 11 homers and 57 RBI.
