The New York Yankees need one more win to clinch the American League East division title, and they will be looking for it Wednesday against the hapless Boston Red Sox.

New York is leading the Baltimore Orioles by a single game in the AL East. Baltimore is on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, facing Jeremy Hellickson. If the Orioles win and the Yankees don't, there will be a one-game playoff for the division title on Thursday in Camden Yards at Oriole Park.

The loser of that contest would be a wild-card team and would face either the Texas Rangers or Oakland Athletics.

Out west, it's a winner-take-all affair of epic proportion with the aforementioned A's and Rangers doing battle at the O.co Coliseum. Despite being up four games with six to play, Texas finds itself tied for the AL West lead with an Oakland team that refuses to go away.

In the National League, the only drama remaining is who will claim the top seed in the playoffs. Both the Cincinnati Reds and Washington Nationals have identical 96-65 records going into the final day of the season, with Washington holding the head-to-head tiebreaker.
