In their final regular-season tune-up, the playoff-bound New York Red Bulls had no trouble with the Philadelphia Union, putting them away early and coasting to a 3-0 victory.
Red Bulls forward Kenny Cooper scored on a penalty kick in the 13th minute for a lead New York would never relinquish. Cooper added a second goal, his 18th of the season, in the 66th minute to ice a game that was never competitive.
In the 66th minute, French legend Thierry Henry scored his 15th goal in his 26th appearance for the Red Bulls this season.
Despite a 15-6 advantage in shots on goal, the Union were unable to score. New York goalie Luis Robles saved two, while the Red Bulls defense was able to deflect the remainder of Philadelphia's attempts on goal.
The Red Bulls are assured a playoff berth and can finish no lower than fourth in the Eastern Conference. The MLS playoffs begin Wednesday, Oct. 31.
