The New York Yankees will look to stave off elimination against the Detroit Tigers in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series at Comerica Park on Wednesday night.
New York is facing the prospect of being swept in a four-game series for the first time since the 1976 Fall Classic, when the Cincinnati Reds cruised past the Yankees for the title.
CC Sabathia will take the hill for the Bronx Bombers, hoping to prolong the season for at least one more game. The hulking lefty hasn't pitched since Game 5 of the ALDS, when he won in a complete game, one-run effort over the Baltimore Orioles.

The Tigers are set to counter with Max Scherzer. The right-hander finished second in the AL in strikeouts behind Justin Verlander and certainly poses as a threat to a New York team that has gone ice-cold at the plate.
Scherzer might have some rust at the beginning of the game. The flamethrower hasn't pitched since Game 3 of the ALDS against the Oakland A's, which was eight days ago.
