Rutgers Scarlet Knights senior linebacker Khaseem Greene was named Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Greene, who collected a game-high 14 tackles with 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception in Saturday's 23-15 victory over the Syracuse Orange, also was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday.
Greene, a native of Elizabeth, N.J., leads the Scarlet Knights in tackles (38), tackles for loss (5.5) and sacks (3.5). He's one was the biggest reasons the Scarlet Knights remain unbeaten (6-0, 3-0 Big East) and became bowl eligible for the seventh time in eight seasons.
Currently, Rutgers is ranked 15th in the latest Bowl Championship Series standings. The Scarlet Knights are also ranked No. 17 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll and No. 19 in the AP Poll.
On Saturday, Rutgers visits the Temple Owls in a Big East showdown (noon ET on SNY).
