Rutgers Vs. West Virginia Preview: Scarlet Knights Host Moutaineers

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights men's basketball program looks get to .500 in Big East Conference play Wednesday, as they host the West Virginia Mountaineers at the Louis Brown Athletic Center (7 p.m. on SNY). Rutgers (8-6, 0-1 Big East) is coming off a loss to the South Florida Bulls, 67-65, while the Mountaineers (10-4, 1-1) try to rebound from a drubbing from Seton Hall, 67-48.

On Thursday, Rutgers knocked off No. 13 Florida Gators, 85-83, in double overtime. Freshman guard Eli Carter netted a game-best 32 points. Currently, Carter leads the Scarlet Knights in scoring (13.5 points per game), while another freshman, guard Myles Mack, is coming off the bench and netting 11.0 ppg. Sophomore center Gilvydas Biruta is averaging 10.9 ppg and is the squad's leading rebounder, 5.9 rebounds per game.

Meanwhile, WVU's senior forward Kevin Jones leads the Big East in points (20.0 ppg) and rebounding (11.4 pg). Last week, in a 83-69 victory over Villanova Wildcats, senior guard Darryl Bryant netted 34 points. Braynt is averaging 17.2 ppg.
