Baron Davis Injury Update: D'Antoni Won't Rule Him Out For Cavaliers

Baron Davis might make his long-awaited debut with the New York Knicks Wednesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Then again, he might not.

Head coach Mike D'Antoni said he "wouldn't rule anything out." Davis, though, didn't sound like a guy who expected to play on Wednesday. After signing with the Knicks as a free agent, the veteran point guard has missed the entire season thus far with a back injury. He practiced for the first time earlier this week, and did not sound like a guy who thought he was ready for live NBA action.

"I'm taking it one day at a time, see what happens when I go out and work out and get shots up and see how I feel [this] morning,'' Davis said last night. "I would love to play, but I don't think it's possibly going to happen.''

Davis, 32, is entering his 13th season in the league and has career averages of 16.5 points and 7.3 assists. He averaged 13.1 points and 6.7 assists for the Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers a season ago.
