ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is reporting that the Orlando Magic have inquired about the possibility of sending Dwight Howard to the New York Knicks in exchange for Tyson Chander and Amare Stoudemire.
“I will preface my statement by telling you that [the Magic] have categorically denied this, but my sources tell me that they have inquired about Tyson Chandler and Amar’e Stoudemire going to Orlando for Dwight Howard,” Smith said.
Howard, the Magic center, can be a free agent at the end of this season. He has been rumored as possibly going to the New Jersey Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and now the Knicks. Of course, the Magic are still trying to re-sign their franchise center long-term.
Howard is a better player than either Chandler or Stoudemire, but this seems more like the Magic asking than the Knicks actually pursuing a move for Howard. Still, worth thinking about.
