Billy King, New Jersey Nets General Manager, has announced that the team signed Larry Owens. To make room for Owens, Dennis Horner was put on waivers.
Owens, a 6-7 forward now in his second stint in the NBA out of Oral Roberts, was signed from the Tulsa 66ers of the D-League. He played 12 games last season for the Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs and averaged just over three points and 12 minutes per game.
At Tulsa this season, Owens is averaging 13 points and five rebounds. The 29-year-old will be joining the team Wednesday once all the paperwork is out of the way.
As for Horner, the New Jersey native's future is unclear. The young man from North Carolina State didn't see much action for the Nets this season. He made the team late in training camp as an undrafted rookie but only saw 16 minutes of playing time on the year.
