South Florida vs. Ball State: Bulls Try To Keep Momentum Against Cardinals

The University of South Florida football program, which defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 23-20, collected the most impressive Big East Conference victory last Saturday. Quarterback B.J. Daniels passed for 128 yards on 18-of-30 passing and two touchdowns, while running for another 37 yards, in the win at South Bend that helped the Bulls crack the Top 25 in the AP Poll.

Look at the opponent: Last Saturday, the Ball State Cardinals defeated Big Ten-opponent Indiana University, 27-20. Ball State trailed 17-14 at halftime, but rallied to help new head coach Pete Lembo collect his first victory. Sophomore quarterback Keith Wenning completed 23-of-29 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Wenning also rushed for 61 yards and scored a TD. On defense, sophomore defensive tackle Nathan Ollie earned Mid-American Conference Defensive Player Of The Week honors by collecting four tackles and two sacks. Before the season, the Cardinals were predicted to finish fifth out of six teams in the Mid-American Conference's West Division.

Point spread: USF is a 20-point favorite.

Final thoughts: Ball State might put up a fight and could cover the spread, but the Bulls should roll to another non-conference victory.
