The New York Giants (2-1) travel to University of Phoenix Stadium Sunday to take on the 1-2 Arizona Cardinals (4:05 p.m. ET, FOX). This is a dangerous game for the Giants.
Since training camp began the focus was on finding a way to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants went into Philadelphia last Sunday and accomplished that, with their 29-16 victory being their first over Philadelphia in seven tries. The challenge for the Giants is to avoid a letdown against Arizona.
"The whole challenge to our team is to continue to grow and allow a win early in the season to catapult you," said Giants coach Tom Coughlin. "I think it [the victory over Philadelphia] is something that you have to build on."
The Cardinals are led by Larry Fitzgerald, one of the league's best receivers. He will present a formidable challenge for a group that played its best game of the season against the Eagles, coming up with three interceptions. Former Eagle Kevin Kolb, acquired in a trade, is Arizona's quarterback.
Defensively, the Cardinals have given up an average of 397.7 yards per game, 27th in the league.
Giants' quarterback Eli Manning has completed 32-of-45 passes dating back to the second half of New York's Monday night victory over St. Louis. He was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 16-for-23, 254-yard, four touchdown effort against Philadelphia.
Giants' receiver Mario Manningham (concussion) expects to play Sunday, but has not yet been cleared for practice ... defensive end Osi Umenyiora might practice Wednesday. He has not played yet this season after having knee surgery during the preseason,
