Syracuse Bolts Big East For ACC; Rutgers Might Not Be Far Behind

Syracuse University and Pittsburgh will be moving to the Atlantic Coast Conference. Rutgers University might not be far behind, as several reports indicated that the school had inquired about the possibility of moving from the Big East Conference to the ACC.

Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti told reporters that the school was ““engaged with several parties” as the conference structure around college football continues to change.

“We continue to be well positioned as the landscape continues to shift," Pernetti said. "You could evaluate that from your perspective however you want to evaluate that.”

The New York Times reported Sunday that 10 teams, including Rutgers and the University of Connecticut, had inquired about joining the ACC if the league should decide to expand from 14 teams — which it reached with the additions of Syracuse and Pittsburgh — to 16.
