The New York Jets came back from two touchdowns down in the fourth quarter to beat the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium, 27-24, Monday night. The Jets are 1-0 and will be in a three-way tie for the AFC East lead with Buffalo and the winner of Monday's New England against Miami game.
It was over when.. Jamaal Westerman recovered Felix Jones' errant lateral on the last play of the game as the clock read 0:00.
Turning Point With just over nine minutes left, Tony Romo was stripped at the goal line on a third and goal play trying to scramble into the end zone after Dez Bryant was blanketed by Darrelle Revis. Mike Devito made the strip for the Jets. Sione Pouha made the recovery. Dallas was up 24-17 at that point and on the verge of going up two scores.
Critical Play Taking over in a tie game with 59 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Tony Romo inexplicably forces a ball to Dez Bryant, who is blanketed by Darrelle Revis. Revis picks it off and returns it to the Dallas 34, putting the Jets into field goal range. The Hero Nick Folk hit from 50 yards out in the final minute to break the tie, add to his legend with the Jets, and burn the team that gave up on him two years ago in the process.
Next Up The Jets face Jacksonville at home next Sunday at 1:00. The Jaguars beat the Titans today to go to 1-0.
