Syracuse 7, Rhode Island 0: End Of First Quarter

A 22-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Ryan Nassib to senior wide receiver Van Chew has helped Syracuse University take a first-quarter lead, 7-0, lover non-conference opponent the University of Rhode Island at the Carrier Dome. The connection, the second of the year between the two, capped a 11-play, 73-yard drive that lasted four minutes and eight seconds.

On SU's first possession, the Orange in just two plays (22 yards) moved into Rams territory, but the drive stalled after Nassib sailed a throw over the head of intended wide receiver Alex Lemon and into the hands of URI's defensive back Devon Dace.

On the Orange's last drive of the first quarter, SU drove deep into URI territory, but was stopped short on a fourth-and-one situation.

URI has been held to just 24 total yards and one first down.
