Morning Coffee! Giants Camp Drama

Good morning, New York sports fans! Here's your Morning Coffee...

New York Giants Training Camp: SB Nation New York's Regional Editor Ed Valentine is at the Timex Performance Center for Giants camp. Currently, the big story is defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who was searching for a trade out of New York, but no longer is allowed to do so. Umenyiora has been at practice, but hasn't participated in any drills. Instead, Umenyiora is either riding the stationary bike or just standing on the sidelines.

More local news after the jump...

New York Jets Camp: On Wednesday, head coach Rex Ryan expressed his personal opinion on signing the Jets longest-tenured player, defensive end Shaun Ellis, to a contract. Reports on Thursday are saying that Ellis and the Jets have agreed to a one-year deal worth $910 thousand.

Yankees 18, White Sox 7: New York exploded for 18 runs Wednesday night in a blow out of host Chicago. Shortstop Derek Jeter had five of the Yankees season-high 23 hits, while outfielder Curtis Granderson went 4-for-6 with five RBI.

However, there was so bad news that came out of last night's victory and that was starting pitcher A.J. Burnett failing to get past the fifth inning. Burnett allowed seven runs on 13 hits despite having a 12-run cushion heading into the the bottom of the third inning.
