Morning Coffee! Hurricane Irene Edition

Good morning, New York sports fans! There won't be too much going on this weekend on the regional sports scene, other than hurricane watching. Let's look at the local sports picture, anyway.

Hurricane Irene Forces Jets-Giants To Be Re-Scheduled: The game between the two co-inhabitants of MetLife Stadium (still gettting used to that) has been moved to Monday night. The tricky part is both teams also have preseason games on Thursday, just 72 hours later.

↵

Yankees Vs. Orioles: A.J. Burnett Flops Again In 12-5 Loss: Maybe Burnett's first name should be 'Awful A.J.', since he has been mostly awful for two seasons now with the Yankees.

↵

Chris Capuano Pitches Mets Past Braves, 6-0: Capuano was definitely not awful Friday. He was brilliant, striking out a career-high 13.

↵

Rutgers Football Preview, Quarterbacks: Chas Dodd Is No. 1 QB: The Scarlet Knights are hoping for a better season in 2011, and for that to happen they have to get better play out of the quarterback position.

↵

Travers Stakes 2011: Who Will Emerge As Horse Of Year Favorite?: This is one event that should go off without a hitch today, as Hurricane Irene won't hit upstate until Sunday. The Travers field includes Shackleford, Ruler On Ice, Coil and Stay Thirsty. Should be a fun race.
