Good morning, New York/New Jersey sports fans! If you are a New York Giants fan the season-ending injury to cornerback Terrell Thomas feels like somebody played a cruel joke on you today -- like putting salt in your sugar bowl and screwing up your morning brew.
NFL Preseason 2011, Week 2: Giants Win Game, Lose Terrell Thomas For Season: The Giants played impressively Monday night, routing the Chicago Bears, 41-13. The loss of Thomas to a torn ACL, though, is a devastating blow to the team's defense. Justin Tuck said Thomas was "probably our number one corner," and his value in both pass and run defense cannot be overstated. The Giants are now extremely thin at cornerback, and have to cross their fingers that oft-injured former first-round pick Aaron Ross can both stay healthy and perform decently.
Wandy Rodriguez A Fit For Yankees Rotation?: The Houston lefty is expected to clear waivers, and there are varying reports as to whether or not the Yankees are interested. As far as I'm concerned anything that bumps A.J. Burnett off the postseason roster is fine with me.

Who Will Be The Closer For The Mets In 2012? Bobby Parnell Is Still The Frontrunner: SB Nation New York's Jimmy Hascup takes a look at what the Mets are likely to do for a closer next season. The rest of the bullpen might get re-structured, but Hascup says the closer is already on the premises.
Syracuse Football Preview, Secondary: Phillip and Shamarko Thomas Anchor Talented Group: SB Nation continues its series of Syracuse football previews with a look at the secondary.
