The New York Jets have signed free agent safety DaJuan Morgan, a former third-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Last season, Morgan spent two games with the Indianapolis Colts after being cut by the Chiefs at the end of preseason. He recorded just one tackle before being released despite Indianapolis dealing with multiple injuries in the defensive backfield.
While his 2010 was forgettable, Morgan was serviceable for the Chiefs his first two seasons. Those two years he played in 28 games, starting his final two in Kansas City at free safety before an injury ended his season.
Morgan's ability to play both safety positions will help the Jets defensive depth and -- more importantly -- give Mike Westhoff a willing and experienced special teamer.
