Rutgers Players In The NFL: Six UDFAs Trying To Make Makes

Six former Rutgers University football team recently signed NFL contracts as undrafted free agents. Including those six players there are currently 28 former Scarlet Knights in the NFL right now.

The six undrafted free agents trying to make NFL rosters currently are: Howard Barbieri (OL, Houston Texans), Brandon Bing (CB, Denver Broncos), Jonathan Freeny (LB, Miami Dolphins), Joe Lefeged (DB, Indianapolis Colts), Alex Silvestro (LB, New England Patriots), Charlie Noonan (DT, Philadelphia Eagles).

Five former Scarlet Knights who went undrafted were on active NFL rosters last season (Gary Brackett, Eric Foster, Kevin Haslam, Shaun O’Hara, Jamaal Westerman).

O'Hara, a three-time Pro Bowl center who played just six games last season due to leg injuries, was released by the Giants at the beginning of training camp. He has reportedly visited with the Miami Dolphins, but is still looking for a new employer.
