The New York Yankees are popular, or at least extremely interesting. Who knew? Well, pretty much everybody already knew. Our friends at SB Nation's Beyond The Box Score have tried to find out exactly how popular the Yankees are.
↵What did they find. Well, using an unscientific look at Google hits they found that the Yankees draw far more online interest than any other team. Surprising? Hardly.
↵The top five were the Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays and New York Mets.
↵Any of those teams surprise you? I know I'm surprised to find the Rays in there.
↵What about the teams no one seems to care about?
↵Well, nobody seems to search for anything the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, who finished last in the study. The Kansas City Royals and Arizona Diamondbacks don't seem to generate much interest online, either. Again, I'm surprised that the Angels are on the bottom of this list.
