New York Giants Training Camp, Day 3: Osi Umenyiora Likely To Speak

Unhappy New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora reported to training camp Saturday night, ending his one-day holdout. Just because he has arrived, however, does not mean the two-time Pro Bowler is a happy camper.

Reports indicated that Umenyiora has threatened not to speak with general manager Jerry Reese "ever again," but that he would be "very anxious to talk to (the media)."

Umenyiora, who had 11.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles a season ago, is reportedly seeking a re-negotation of his current contract or a trade.

Practice Notes

The Giants held their first full practice of training camp Saturday night at the Timex Performance Center. First-round draft pick Prince Amukamara, a cornerback is the only unsigned rookie and was not in attendance. Head coach Tom Coughlin was not happy about that, saying "he better get in here."

Center Adam Koets did not practice due to lingering issues with the left knee he had surgery on last season. Coughlin was not happy about that, either.

"He's supposed to be ready," Coughlin said. "This was one today that hit me right over the head.

It's the patella tendon (tendonitis). It's the same thing. (tendonitis resulting from his ACL surgery)."
