Jets Roster Moves: Mark Brunell Back With New York

Signing Plaxico Burress was not the only roster move made Sunday by the New York Jets.

The Jets announced that they have brought back Mark Brunell, the backup quarterback who was recently released. Brunell is an 18-year veteran who played in two games for the Jets last season.

The Jets also signed Kenrick Ellis, their third-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Ellis is a 6-foot-4, 346-pound defensive tackle from Hampton.

Finally, the Jets signed punter Chris Bryan. Bryan played four games for Tampa Bay last season, averaging 37.4 yards on 23 punts. Prior to earning a spot in the NFL, Bryan spent four years in the Australian Football League.

The big news, though, remained the signing of Burress, who was looking for a new team after spending the last two years in prison for shooting himself in the leg with an unregistered handgun while in a Manhattan nightclub. Burress got a one-year, $3 million contract.
