The New York Jets won't be able to offer free agent Nnamdi Asomugha the biggest contract, but for it might not be necessary to get the shutdown corner's signature on a contract.
First word came down from Peter King that Asomugha "wants Jets" and if he does we might know why. Chris Mortensen thinks the All-Pro's desire to start building a career after football could lead him to New York.
"You keep hearing that Nnamdi wants to go somewhere where he can begin to focus on his post-playing career, even though he’ll give his all as he’s playing, and he has a great interest in being an actor, whether it’s in theater or whatever, and that could factor into it."
Though Mort did say he doesn't believe Asomugha would be willing to let the lights of Broadway be the determining factor, it's something that can't be ignored.
Coming to the Jets would also finally allow him to see some action on the field. After years of being ignored on his own little "Asomugha Island", being paired with Darrelle Revis would force teams to look his way.
