The Star-Ledger is reporting the New York Jets have made a hard push today to get Damien Woody back on their roster. This was expected as Vladimir Ducasse hasn't had an off-season to show the coaching staff he is ready to start at right tackle. I would anticipate the two sides being able to work something out, sooner rather than later.
A pair of veterans who were released today that could interest the Jets is former Patriots OLB Tully Banta-Cain and former Ravens DT Kelly Gregg. The Jets could use improved depth at both positions. Banta-Cain recorded 5 sacks for the Patriots last year and Rex Ryan is familiar with Gregg from his time in Baltimore.
One of the more bizarre stories of the day is that the Jets pursuit of Nnamdi Asomugha could be helped by his desire to act after his football career. I am sure Woody Johnson could pull a few strings and have Asomugha on broadway if he was willing to take less money to come to New York.
