Mark Sanchez Knows He Needs To Be More Effective Early In Games

Mark Sanchez has brought the Jets deep into the Postseason in each of the last two season, but his statistical performance has left something to be desired. He is sporting a career 70.2 QB rating and a completion percentage of just 54.4 in the regular season. In an interview with Steve Serby of the New York Post, Sanchez revealed that he needs to get better in these areas during the regular season, and the best way to improve those numbers is to increase his efficiency early in games. [My] completion percentage should be higher, I think ... getting completions early. ... It's about getting off to a good start. You look at all the guys that throw 70-plus percent -- [Drew] Brees, [Peyton] Manning, [Tom] Brady -- and they start off the game 6-for-7. They don't start off 2-for-8, and then have to play catchup the whole game. So I think that's been something I've identified just in watching film this offseason.

And if Sanchez can improve his performance early in the game then that would likely mean better results for his team as a whole.
