Red Bull-D.C. United Score: New York Falls, 1-0

Former New York Red Bull Dwayne De Rosario scored the only goal Saturday as his new team, D.C. United, defeated the New York Red Bulls, 1-0, in MLS action at Red Bull Arena.

De Rosario, traded to D.C. on June 27 for midfielder Dax McCarty, scored in the 61st minute, ripping a shot past Red Bulls goalkeeper Greg Sutton that struck the post and went in, giving United the lead and ultimately the win.

The Red Bulls are now 6-4-10, 28 points. That puts them in a tie for first first place in the Eastern Conference with the Philadelphia Union. D.C. United is 5-5-7, 22 points.

New York is next in action in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday, when it takes on the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park at 8:30 p.m. ET (TV: None; Radio: None). The Red Bulls then return to MLS play on Saturday at the Home Depot Center against Chivas USA at 10:30 p.m. ET (TV: MSG/Galavision; Radio: WADO 1280 AM). New York’s next home match is on Saturday, July 23, as it battles 2010 MLS Cup Finalist FC Dallas at 6:00 p.m. ET (TV: MSG, Galavision; Radio: WADO 1280 AM).
