Jon Prosinski pitched a six-hit shutout as Seton Hall advanced to the winner’s bracket of the College Station Regional Friday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Arizona in the opening round of the 2011 NCAA Baseball Tournament.
The Pirates scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning. Seton Hall strung together three of its eight hits and took advantage of an Arizona throwing error to score its runs. Sean Gusrang started the rally with a double Giuseppe Papaccio had a clutch RBI single.
Prosinski was really only in trouble a couple of times, pitching out of minor jams in both the third and eighth innings.
Seton Hall plays Saturday night at 7:35 p.m. ET against the winner of Friday’s game between top-seeded Texas A&M and fourth-seeded Wright State. The Pirates earned their NCAA Tournament bid by winning the Big East Conference Championship Tournament a week ago.
