For the second straight game since the shortstop went on the disabled list the New York Yankees scored 12 runs to rout the Rangers. The Yankees pounded 12 home runs -- two by Mark Teixeira, and one each by Robinson Cano, replacement shortstop Eduardo Nunez and infielder Ramiro Pena, recalled to take Jeter's roster spot.

Today, the Yankees seem likely to hand the ball to Brian Gordon, a 32-year-old career minor leaguer who would be making his first major-league start.
