Morning Coffee! Triple Crown Concludes With Ruler On Ice Winning The Belmont Stakes

A good Sunday morning to you New York sports fans! If you missed the 143rd running of the Belmont Stakes Sunday evening, Ruler On Ice, a 24-1 shot, won the final race of the 2011 Triple Crown. Ruler On Ice outraced Kentucky Derby winner, Animal Kingdom, and Preakness Stakes champion, Shackleford, to take the crown. The last horse to win the Triple Crown is still Affirmed in 1978.

Yankees 4, Indians 0: Curtis Granderson hit another home run Saturday to help New York beat visiting Cleveland. Granderson's blast was his 20th of the season and moves him in a tie with Toronto's Jose Bautista for the league lead. Meanwhile, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira hit homers, while starting pitcher Bartolo Colon (5-3) pitched seven effective innings before leaving with an injury.

Pirates 3, Mets 2: Daniel Murphy's misplay in the third inning Saturday was one of the key factors in New York's loss to host Pittsburgh. The Mets drop to 31-33 on the season and will need to win a back-to-back games to get the .500 mark.

Finally, the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat will play Game 6 of the NBA Finals tonight (8 p.m. on ABC). The Mavs lead the series 3-2 and have a chance to win the franchise's first NBA title. Meanwhile, Lebron James and Dwyane Wade will need to find a way to work together if the host Heat want to stay alive.
