Good morning, New York/New Jersey sports fans! Let's take our first look back at your sports weekend, and ahead to this week in sports.
↵That Derek Jeter guy showed over the weekend that there is still a little life left in his bat. Jeter blasted a pair of home runs Sunday to lead the New York Yankees to a 12-5 rout of the Texas Rangers. Jeter's batting average is suddenly up to .276 after his four-hit Sunday.
↵The New York Mets managed to stop Andre Ethier's hit streak at 30 games over the weekend -- Yankees fans thank you for that. The Mets, though, lost pitcher Chris Young to shoulder issues.
↵The New York Red Bulls and Los Angeles Galaxy played to a 1-1 draw Saturday night in a possible MLS championship preview.
↵NBA Draft hopefuls were in New Jersey this weekend trying to impress scouts and general managers. Nets' GM Billy King discussed the event with reporters.
↵I leave you with this great quote from New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin, who was asked for his thoughts on players getting themselves in trouble using Twitter and other social media. "I don't know what the hell that is. I'm from a different era," said Coughlin. A lot of pro athletes would be better off if they didn't know what it was, either.
