Morning Coffee! Yankees, Mets Need Some New Lumber

Good morning, New York/New Jersey sports fans! I have a job for you this morning. Get in touch with the Louisville Slugger people and have them deliver some new bats to the New York Yankees and New York Mets ASAP.

That's because apparently the ones they have right now are busted. Both New York teams suffered shutout losses on Wednesday night. The Yankees were helpless against Max Scherzer and the Detroit Tigers in a 4-0 defeat. The Mets were overpowered by Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants, 2-0.

New bats, please. And put a rush on 'em! Both teams play again at 1 p.m., so there isn't any time to waste.

SB Nation New York examines the work both teams still need to do to build rosters for the upcoming season -- whenever it starts. By the way, revised odds for the 2012 Super Bowl are out following the conclusion of the draft.

We have finished the NFL Draft. Now it is time to prepare for the 2011 NBA Draft. SB Nation New York looks at some early draft possibilities for the New York Knicks and examines what the New Jersey Nets hope to accomplish with their draft.

Are you a boxing fan? SB Nation New York's Chris Celletti is, and he has a look at this weekend's welterweight title fight between future Hall of Famers Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley.
