Morning Coffee! Memorial Day Eve Edition

Good morning New York sports fans! If you're trying to find out if the New York Yankees won or lost Saturday night in Seattle, I'd suggest that you turn off the computer and begin the second day of your three-day weekend because you'll be disappointed. The Yankees lost 5-4 in 12 innings last night as Seattle's Adam Kennedy hit a game-winning bloop single to help the Mariners claim their second straight victory.

The New York Mets blew their second consecutive late-inning lead Saturday night, losing 5-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies. Meanwhile, the trade drama with Jose Reyes and the franchise's financial situation is getting worse by the day.

At the collegiate level, the St. John's Red Storm and Seton Hall Pirates will meet in the Big East Tournament Finals Sunday afternoon on ESPNU. The Red Storm defeated the Louisville Cardinals 5-1 in Saturday's semifinals, while the Pirates knocked out the Connecticut Huskies, 12-2. This will be the first championship match up between the two programs since 1985.

In soccer, the New York Red Bulls extended their winless streak to five games Saturday with a 1-1 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps.

A quick final note goes to all of those veterans who served and kept us citizens safe. We all here at SB Nation New York want to thank you for everything you do.
