Thierry Henry of the New York Red Bulls will not play Saturday when the team travels to Vancouver to face the Whitecaps in an MLS match. A limping Henry left Wednesday's 2-2 tie with Columbus with an ice pack wrapped around his injured right knee.
↵He’s not coming with us,’’ coach Hans Backe told the Post. “I think - after I talked to him this morning - he’s not as bad as the end of last year, or in the beginning of this year. I think we just have to manage it now, three games Saturday-Wednesday-Saturday, it’s not good enough (to handle that).’’
↵Henry, 33, has been dealing with knee, hamstring and achilles issues all season. Despite all of that he is second in the MLS with six goals.
↵Backe told reporters he expects Henry to return to training next week to prepare for the Red Bulls' match on June 4 against the Columbus Crew.
