The New York Yankees lead the major leagues in home runs this season, and they flashed that power Saturday night. The Yankees hit four home runs. The Bronx Bombers are sometimes criticized for having a difficult time manufacturing runs without the home run, but when the ball is flying out of the yard that is not a problem.
NCAA Lacrosse Tournament: Cornell Upset By Virginia, 13-9
Syracuse will now have to carry the banner for New York schools in the NCAA Lacrosse Tournament. SB Nation New York will update the tournament results later today.
2011 Preakness: Shackleford Denies Animal Kingdom Triple Crown Chance
Oh, well. There is now no chance history will be made at the June 11 Belmont Stakes. Animal Kingdom made a valiant charge Saturday, but came up three-quarters of a length short as Shackleford won the Preakness.
New York Red Bulls At Houston Dynamo: Red Bulls earn draw
A Mehdi Ballouchy goal in stoppage time allowed the Red Bulls to escape Houston with a 2-2 tie Saturday night. The Red Bulls looked beaten until Ballouchy headed home a Joel Lindpere corner kick. The Red Bulls were playing without star striker Thierry Henry, out with a knee injury.
David Diehl: Giants, Plaxico Burress Should Pass On Each Other
New York Giants' offensive lineman David Diehl believes Plaxico Burress will get another chance in the NFL, but also believes Burress would be better served if that chance came from a team other than the Giants. I think I agree with Diehl, that Burress would have a better opportunity at a fresh start in a new city.
