  • The misery continued for the New York Yankees Sunday. The Yankees lost to the Boston Red Sox, 6-4, getting swept at Yankee Stadium. New York has now lost five straight and nine of 12, and looked old while doing it. Any good news for the Bronx Bombers? Well, Jorge Posada apologized to manager Joe Girardi, and no one else refused to play on Sunday.

  • Break up the New York Mets! The Mets defeated Houston, 7-4, Sunday to earn their third straight series victory. Justin Turner had a career-high five RBI as the Mets improved to 19-21.

  • The New York Red Bulls were heavily favored to defeat Chivas USA Sunday night at Red Bull Arena. That, however, did not happen. Sloppy defense and some missed scoring opportunities led to a 3-2 defeat.

  • In the NCAA Lacrosse Tournament, Syracuse and Cornell both advanced to the round of eight.

  • I like the decision by Derek Boogaard's family to donate his brain to science. The death of the Rangers' enforcer is unfortunate but if something can be learned from it about brain trauma then at least something positive will come from it.

  • NBA Playoffs: The Oklahoma City Thunder advanced to the Western Conference Finals on Sunday, and the Chicago Bulls defeated the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
