Chivas USA At New York Red Bulls: New York Looking To Remain Top Dog

When the New York Red Bulls took on the Los Angeles Galaxy last week there was talk of it being a litmus test game for the Red Bulls, because they would be facing such good competition.

Today's matchup against Chivas is also a litmus test, but for a different reason. If New York truly believes it is the best team in the MLS, then these are the games the Red Bulls need to win. Chivas USA is just 2-3-3 on the season for nine overall points, tied for seventh in the Western Conference. Tonight will be a good time to put that theory to the test.

New York is unbeaten in its last four games, and Thierry Henry has had a lot to do with that. Henry has scored four goals and added three assists his last four games. When Henry is on, there isn't a more dangerous player in the league, and him playing this well is only a good thing for the Red Bulls.

Landon Donovan's first-half strike against the Red Bulls last Sunday broke their 333-minute shutout streak. New York is hoping that Bouna Coundoul keeps up his great play tonight.

More after the game.
