Good morning, New York/New Jersey sports fans! Let's take our first look at the regional sports scene on a fantastic Friday morning here in the Northeast.

- The New York Yankees host the rival Boston Red Sox this weekend, and you can't exactly say the Yankees are playing well heading into the series. They are not. The Yankees dropped their second straight game to Kansas City Thursday, 11-5. It was an ugly, mistake-filled affair. The Bronx Bombers (Bummers?) have dropped six of their last nine games and have fallen out of first place in the American League East. ↵
- Speaking of the Yankees, we will just have to wait and see what Major League Baseball has to say about Bartolo Colon and his bionic arm. There is controversy over Colon's use of stem cell treatment to repair damage to his elbow and shoulder, facilitating his comeback this season. ↵
- Carlos Beltran homered three times Thursday night as the New York Mets outscored the Colorado Rockies, 9-5. What Beltran really did, in my eyes, is make himself even more attractive on the trade market later this summer. ↵
- Amare Stoudemire was named second-team All-NBA on Thursday. There were 15 players named to three teams, and the New York Knicks' other star, Carmelo Anthony, was not among them. ↵
- Syracuse forward Rick Jackson is one of the 54 invitees to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago later this month. ↵
