Good morning, New York/New Jersey sports fans! It's looking like a beautiful day outside, so let's hustle up and get through our first look at the regional sports scene so you can go enjoy it.
The Boston Red Sox had to win a game eventually. But, did they have to go and get their first win of the season after an 0-6 start against the Yankees? Thanks mostly to an awful performance from Yankee starting pitcher Phil Hughes, that's a yes. The two teams are back at it this afternoon at Fenway Park.
The New York Mets home opener did not work out very well. Veteran R.A. Dickey had a tough day and the Mets fel to the Nationals.
The Knicks have something to play for as they head toward the playoffs. The Nets are just filling out the remaining games on their schedule. That's exactly how it looked Friday night as New York dominated New Jersey from start to finish.
The New Jersey Devils won't be in the NHL playoffs. They will have a lot to do with whether or not the New York Rangers make it, though. The Rangers need a victory today in their final regular-season game as they try to hold off Carolina for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.
A 6-under par 66, his best round at The Masters since 2005, has Tiger Woods three shots back of the lead heading to the final two rounds. Root for him or against him (I root for him) golf is only truly interesting when Tiger is in the hunt on Sunday.
