New York Yankees Vs. Minnesota Twins: New York Faces Francisco Liriano

The New York Yankees face Minnesota Twins left-hander Francisco Liriano, a pitcher who they were reportedly interested in acquiring during Spring Training. Those reports may or may not have had any validity, but there is certainly good reason why the Yankees would be interested in Liriano if they eventually look to the trade market to bolster their rotation.

Liriano is a 27-year-old lefty who went 14-10 with a 3.62 ERA in 2010. He isn't the dominant pitcher he looked like prior to injuring his arm in 2006, when he was 12-3, 2.16 and made the All-Star team at age 22. He is, however, a quality front-line starting pitcher. The Yankees will have their hands full trying to defeat him today.

A.J. Burnett (1-0) pitches for New York. Game time is 1:05 p.m. (YES).
