NCAA Hockey Frozen Four: Minnesota-Duluth Vs. Notre Dame, Michigan Vs. North Dakota

The semifinals of the NCAA men's hockey championship will be played Thursday night at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn. The Frozen Four teams are the Minnesota-Dulth Bulldogs (24-10-8), who faces off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (25-13-5) at 5 p.m. on ESPN2. Then at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN 2, the No. 1-seeded North Dakota Fighting Sioux (32-8-3) plays the Michigan Wolverines (28-10-4). The winners will play Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Now, I'll admit if the Cornell Big Red (I live in Ithaca, NY) are not playing then I am not keeping track of the NCAA tournament. However, like most sports fans, I am a big supporter of postseason hockey, especially at the college level where there's a lot of cool traditions.

One of my top-10 sports jaw-dropping moments came during the 2009 NCAA Championship game between Maimi (OH) and Boston University (video below). If any of these games are as half as good as that one, then everyone is in for a treat.
