New York Ranked No. 3 Sports City, Behind Boston ... BOOOOOO!

New York City has been voted the No. 3 Ultimate Sports City in a poll conducted by a website called The Ultimate Sports List. Topping New York on this list are Los Angeles and Boston.

What isn't clear, exactly, is the criteria used for ranking the cities on the list. The release annoucing this "honor" says "Los Angeles earned top sports city honors for being the host of the Summer Olympics, FIFA World Cup finals, Super Bowl, NCAA Men’s Final Four and the World Series. Boston barely edged out New York for number two, but with the New York area scheduled to be a Super Bowl host in 2014, that event is expected to eventually move New York to second place."

So, I'm not sure how this worked. It appears that the folks at Sports List used some type of formula that assigned points to events hosted and came up with a point total. The weird part is that the formula appears to consider both current and past events.

Whatever. All I know is New Yorkers can't be happy about any ranking that puts them behind Boston.
