Morning Coffee! Giants Open Doors ... For A While

Good morning, New York/New Jersey sports fans! Here is your first look at the regional sports scene.

The New York Giants were the only NFL team to open its weight room to players Tuesday, the day after Judge Susan Richard Nelson ordered the NFL Lockout lifted. That won't happen today, though, as the Giants have apparently closed ranks with the rest of the league and decided to close training facilities until the current legal proceedings are completed.

The New York Mets have now won five straight games after a 6-4 victory over Washington Tuesday night. This is the same team that had gone 2-12 prior to the winning streak. There just isn't any way to truly figure out baseball.

The New York Yankees can, in fact, vouch for that. The Yankees dropped their second straight game to the Chicago White Sox Tuesday -- the same White Sox team that had lost 10 of 11 before the series with the Yankees started. If you could give an outfielder a save, Chicago's Brent Lillibridge would have gotten one Tuesday. He made back-to-back spectacular catches in the ninth inning to end the game when the Yankees had the tying and winning runs on base.
