Good morning, New York/New Jersey sports fans! Although I know from a sports perspective there really isn't a whole good about it.
↵The New York Knicks had an NBA playoff game against the Boston Celtics Friday night at Madison Square Garden. The Celtics showed up. The Garden fans showed up in full throat. Unfortunately, the Knicks didn't show up. They fell behind 22-5 and were really never competitive in a 113-96 loss. The Knicks trail, 3-0, in the best-of-seven series and their season is effectively over. They still have a chance on Sunday to get the franchise's first playoff victory in 10 years, but they no longer have a real chance of making this a competitive series.
↵Pretty much the same thing can be said about the New York Rangers. The Blueshirts are in Washington Saturday for Game 5 of their NHL series against the Capitals. The Rangers trail, 3-1, and a comeback would seem unlikely.
↵The New York Yankees were rained out Friday night in Baltimore, their third rainout already this season. There is more rain in the Maryland forecast Saturday night. At this rate, the entire second half of the Yankee season will be doubleheaders.
↵The New York Mets actually won a game Friday night. A big home run from Ike Davis and a good pitching performance by Mike Pelfrey carried the Amazin's to a 4-1 victory over Arizona.
↵The SB Nation 2011 NFL Mock Draft has rolled through 18 picks, putting the New York Giants on the clock. That pick will, hopefully, be posted sometime on Saturday.
