Morning Coffee! Bitter Loss For Knicks

Good morning New York/New Jersey sports fans! If you are a New York Knicks fan, your cup o' joe has a bitter taste to it this morning.

The Knicks came within a Ray-Allen 3-pointer with 11.6 seconds remaining of pulling off an upset in Game 1 of their NBA playoff series against the Boston Celtics Sunday night in Boston. Instead, New York suffered a crushing 87-85 loss in a game that was there for them to win.

The difference in this game? Carmelo Anthony disappeared for the Knicks in the second half, scoring just three points, while Boston got an unexpected boost from center Jermaine O'Neal, who scored 12 points and blocked four shots.

MLB: The New York Mets snapped a seven-game losing streak Sunday with a 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

The New York Yankees got a boost from reserve infielder Eric Chavez. Subbing for the injured Alex Rodriguez Chavez drove in the game-winning run in the eighth inning during a 6-5 Yankee victory over the Texas Rangers.

NHL: The New York Rangers showed the Washington Capitals that they won't go quietly in their NHL playoff series with a 3-2 victory Sunday night. The Rangers trail in the series, 2-1.
