Morning Coffee! Troy Tulowitzki Edition

Good morning, New York/New Jersey-area sports fans! I guess we could call this the 'Troy Tulowitzki Edition' of Morning Coffee.

Tulowitzki is the shortstop for the Colorado Rockies, and he starred in both games of Colorado's double-header sweep of the New York Mets on Thursday. That concluded a four-game sweep by Colorado, games in which Tulowitzki starred every time. Hey, Terry Collins, what is going to take for you to figure out that maybe you ought to pitch around this guy sometimes? Maybe you believe in the 'let's allow the same player to beat us every single day' theory.

I was watching the New York Yankees play the Baltimore Orioles Thursday night, and I was shaking my head in disbelief when YES broadcaster Michael Kay was questioning what he thought was a quick hook of Yankee starter Phil Hughes with the Yankees trailing 4-0 in the middle of the fifth inning. My immediate thought was, the game is still winnable, so of course you make this move to Bartolo Colon rather than leave Hughes out there to get pounded. Sure enough, Colon fired three shutout innings and the Yankees rallied for a 6-5 10-inning victory.

The New York Rangers face the Washington Capitals in Game 2 of their NHL playoff series in Washington Friday night. The Rangers trail in the series, 1-0, after an overtime loss on Wednesday.
