New York Mets Roster: Jason Bay Heading To Disabled List

Despite Spring Training concluding today, leave it to the New York Mets to wait until the last minute to set their Opening Day 25-man roster.

With Jason Bay experiencing discomfort in his left ribcage muscle yesterday, the 25th spot on the roster is in flux. It's likely that Bay will be put on the disabled list, but GM Sandy Alderson has already said that the team will wait until Thursday's 11 a.m. EST deadline to make the final roster decision if it's necessary. Lucas Duda may be called up from Triple-A, but there's still a chance that if Nick Evans cleared waivers, he could be placed on the Opening Day roster.

Besides Bay, the rest of the roster is set: Carlos Beltran looks as healthy as he can possibly be -- and he will play Friday against the Marlins. Blaine Boyer has received the last spot in a bullpen that certainly has an interesting collection of arms. Mike Nickeas will backup Josh Thole, as Ronny Paulino has to serve an eight-game PED ban and also has stomach and colon issues.

Daniel Murphy and Chin-Lung Hu will backup in the infield, while Scott Hariston and Willie Harris do the same in the outfield. The Mets certainly have solid depth across the diamond this year.
