The New Jersey Nets will try to get back on the winning track when they wrap up a three-game road trip Saturday night against the Atlanta Hawks. The Nets have split the first two games of their quick journey away from the Prudential Center and will face a similarly struggling Hawks team.
Last time out, New Jersey fell to Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic 95-85, though the Nets held a lead with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game. Anthony Morrow led the way for the Nets with 19 points, while Jordan Farmar had a double-double of 15 points and 16 assists in 41 minutes. The point guard has been playing increased minutes following injuries to Deron Williams and Sundiata Gaines.
Williams has said he wants to play again this season, likely Wednesday's matchup with the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
The Hawks are currently the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference, but have lost eight of their last 11 games, including 105-100 setback to the 76ers in Philadelphia on Wednesday night. Josh Smith scored 33 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in defeat. Kirk Hinrich and Marvin Williams each added 16.
A win against the Nets will officially clinch a playoff spot for the Hawks, but so far this season New Jersey has taken two of three in the series.
Avery Johnson's crew will get a much needed two days off before taking on the Houston Rockets Tuesday night in Newakr. The short handed Nets will have played seven games in the last 10 days.
