Trailing by six points at halftime in a Sweet 16 matchup, Arizona outscored defending champion Duke 55-33 in the second half and cruised to a 93-77 victory in a West Region game Thursday night. The Wildcats meet UConn, which defeated San Diego State earlier Thursday.
Derrick Williams led Arizona with 32 points. He had 25 of those in the first to keep the Wildcats close. Williams’ teammates erupted in the second half, however. Arizona outscored Duke 55-33 in that second half, including a 19-2 run that gave the Wildcats the lead for good.Lamont Jones added 16 points and Solomon Hill scored 13 for the fifth-seeded Wildcats (30-7).
Kyrie Irving had 28 points for the Blue Devils (32-5) and Kyle Singler chipped in 18.
